Web site performance assessment:

This is a prerequisite to being able to optimise a web service. The result is a comprehensive report outlining performance related issues with the site / service. Performance is assessed from two different angles; optimal conditions and simulated poor (real-life) conditions.
In some cases, performance issues relate to specific browser-types and configuration, these aspects are covered in the assessment.

Web site optimisation:

The 80/20 rule applies here; optimising a site to 100% is not cost efficient.
Addressing the 'big ticket' items will in most cases make the site perform more than adequatly.
A site assessment is required prior to optimising the service

Proxy Automatic Configuration (PAC-file) optimisation:

Most users in large organisations are located behind web proxies. Users can be accessing web services with many different clients (programs) such as Internet Explorer, FireFox, Java WebStart, .NET etc using more than one proxy server complex. These programs all interpret PAC-files differently. Unless the PAC-file syntax follows a rigid structure, the site functionality and end-user performance will suffer.
If the PAC file is not optimised, true web site performance behind proxy servers will never be achieved

Proactive performance assessment:

Why not identify and address web site performance issues before your visitors complain?
Hawthorn can advice you how to adjust the development life-cycle to include new processes that will identify issues that influence the over-all site performance.
We can also provide advice to IT procurement how to specify clear non-functional requirements. This will allow you to purchase third party software that performs well from day one.

Web service fault tracing:

Hawthorn can help you identify issues and assist in resolving difficult problems in a complex environment
